Playing Ping Pong or Table Tennis was the most interesting than other sports disciplines, was my favorite pastime. Picked up the game at the age 14 (+) at YMCA, Fort, Galle mentored by my good Samaritan Mr. Ranjan Perumal, a good Alouvisian, taught me the tricks and spills of the game. Continued playing till I retired from the Sri Lanka Army and some of my achievements in sports are listed below:
In 2012, on a visit to Rome attending the Holy Mass, we found accommodation at the Catacombs of St. Callistus. At its peak, the fifteen hectare site would have held the remains of sixteen popes and fifty martyrs. Nine of those popes were buried in the Crypt of the Popes itself, to which Pope Damasus I built a staircase in the 4th century. Among the discovered Greek language inscriptions are those associated with: Pope Pontian, Vow was made to acquire the skills to master music especially playing musical instruments at the original burial place of St. Cecilia placed deep below the ground with a well organised tunnel network. During the wedding, Cecilia sat apart singing to God in her heart, and for that she was later declared the saint of musicians. My effort to pursue a career in music has come true and learning curve has been very steep and rapid. St. Cecilia was buried at the Catacombs of St. Callistus, and then transferred to the Church of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere. In 1599, her body was found still in-corrupt, seeming to be asleep.
